I'm working with a fast-growing, mission-driven startup that has already been featured globally by Apple and has built a user base in the hundreds of thousands

With the product now scaling across new markets and the engineering function ready for its next phase, they're hiring a hands-on Head of Engineering to help lead and shape their technical future.

This is a rare opportunity to lay the technical and cultural foundations from scratch and is perfect for someone who’s been part of a scaling team, be that as a Senior Software Engineer, or a Technical Leader.

Responsibilities :

• Defining and owning the technical strategy, stack and architecture
• Building a lean, focused and collaborative engineering culture from scratch
• Hiring, mentoring and leading a team of engineers across mobile and backend
• Working closely with Product, Design and Leadership to ship impactful features
• Leveraging AI, automation and modern tooling to accelerate output and quality
• Balancing speed, scale and maintainability in a growing mobile B2C platform

Requirements:

• 10+ years in software engineering
• 5+ years leading high-performing teams
• Experience shipping high-quality mobile apps (React Native ideal)
• Strong background in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP etc.)
• Hands-on leadership style - you’re still happy to dive into code when needed
• Startup/scale-up experience essential
• Deep understanding of product and user-led development
• Data-driven and pragmatic decision-making
• Track record of building scalable consumer-facing products
• Bonus: Passion for the outdoors, nature, or social impact work

• Up to £100,000 base salary
