PMO Analyst

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital Services team as a PMO Analyst, playing an important part in the successful delivery of our digital projects.

You will support the effective prioritisation, governance and delivery of projects, helping to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget and fit for purpose.

Working closely with the Head of Digital Programmes, the Digital Services Leadership Team and Project Delivery colleagues, you will provide high-quality analysis, reporting and assurance to support informed decision-making and the continuous improvement of project delivery.

Job responsibilities

As PMO Analyst, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate the new project demand process, supporting the effective prioritisation of new initiatives.
  • Maintain and continuously improve robust PMO processes and ways of working.
  • Produce clear, insightful analysis and reporting to support effective decision-making.
  • Support the Head of Digital Programmes and Digital Services Leadership Team with accurate and relevant project information.
  • Track and monitor project data to provide objective quality assurance across the portfolio.
  • Support Digital Services Project Delivery colleagues by providing guidance and coaching on PMO processes.
  • Help promote a consistent and effective approach to project governance and deliver

You will play a central role in maintaining effective PMO processes and supporting the successful delivery of Digital Services projects.

A key part of the role will be leading the new project demand process and ensuring appropriate information is available to support prioritisation and strategic decision-making. You will monitor and analyse project data, producing meaningful reports and providing objective assurance to help identify progress and support effective project delivery.

You will work collaboratively with the Head of Digital Programmes, Digital Services Leadership Team and Project Delivery colleagues, providing guidance and coaching to encourage consistent use of PMO processes and support their continued improvement.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree level or specialist equivalent
  • Project management qualification (PRINCE2, Management of Portfolio MoP, or equivalent)
  • ECDL or excellent PC literacy, including knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages
Desirable
  • Evidence of continual professional development within Portfolio, Programme or Project management from foundational to practitioner level (APMP, MOP, MSP, etc)

Experience

Essential
  • Demonstrated experience of managing projects or portfolios in complex and challenging environments
  • Experience in a PMO or related role
Desirable
  • Experience working within a Digital Services or similar high paced environment
  • Public sector experience
  • Healthcare domain experience

Skills and Knowledge

Essential
  • In-depth specialist PMO knowledge and application of portfolio management frameworks and methodologies, specifically PRINCE2
  • Demonstrable proficiency in project management software, data visualisation tools, and reporting
  • Excellent MS Office Suite skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong understanding of project management jargon and best practices
  • In depth, advanced level statistical, analytical and reporting skills, able to gather data from wide variety of sources oOutstanding communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills at all levels of the organisation
Desirable
  • Knowledge of NHS procurement and business case guidelines
  • Ability to create reports and dashboards using PowerQuery / PowerBi / Microsoft Report Builder or similar
