The Opportunity

A high-growth technology company is looking for a Senior Engineering Team Lead to head up one of their platform teams.

The platform is mission-critical, highly available, and built to support in-person commerce at scale.

This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll help shape the future of the internal platform and turn infrastructure into a genuine competitive advantage.

The Role

You will lead a platform team responsible for building and operating a self-service internal platform that empowers product engineering teams to move quickly, safely, and sustainably.

The organisation strongly believes in Infrastructure as a Product, high autonomy, and reducing cognitive load for engineers. You'll combine people leadership, technical depth, and strategic thinking, acting as both a coach and a technical authority.

What You'll Do

  • Build and nurture a high-performing engineering team through coaching, feedback, and empowerment
  • Lead the design and evolution of core infrastructure and self-service platform capabilities
  • Drive architectural decisions that ensure systems are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and resilient
  • Partner closely with senior stakeholders and engineering teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions
  • Own the delivery of impactful initiatives, balancing speed, reliability, and long-term platform health

What You'll Bring

  • A product-first mindset, treating internal engineers as customers
  • Experience leading Platform, DevOps, or SRE teams, with a strong servant-leadership approach
  • Deep knowledge of cloud-native infrastructure, including: Kubernetes, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Public cloud environments (GCP and/or AWS), Managed databases
  • Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows
  • Proven ability to make pragmatic technical decisions under real-world constraints
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
  • Programming experience (ideally Golang, or similar) is highly desirable
