Senior Software Engineer – Newcastle - £65,000 to £90,000 per year DOE – On-site
FryerMiles are delighted to be working with a rapidly growing technical consultancy who are looking to recruit multiple Software Engineers to join their Defence team in Newcastle.
You’ll design and build applications used across complex Defence & National Security programmes, working across the full development lifecycle from Proof of Concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain applications across the full stack.
- Develop backend services, APIs, databases and user interfaces.
- Deploy applications across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Build high-quality, secure and maintainable software.
- Work with technical teams and Defence customers to solve complex problems.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong programming skills in C#/.NET, Java or Python.
- Experience developing production web applications.
- SQL databases, web frameworks and RESTful APIs.
- Front-end development using React and TypeScript.
- Cloud experience with Azure and/or AWS.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and development best practices.
- First-class or 2:1 degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline from a Russell Group university.
Desirable Experience
- WebSockets, SignalR or similar real-time technologies.
- AI-assisted software development tools.
- Defence or National Security experience.
Essential Requirements
- UK national and eligible to obtain UK SC-level Security Clearance.
- Visa sponsorship is not available.
Willingness to travel to Defence customer sites across the UK when required, including 2–3 days per week or shorter periods of full-time travel.
