Are you a skilled data cabling engineer who takes pride in neat cabinets and first-time test passes? This is a chance to join a long-established UK IT support provider that delivers technology projects for some of the best-known names on the high street, in hospitality and in retail.

You'll be home-based, covering a region that takes in Birmingham, Coventry, Stoke, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Northampton, Worcester, Gloucester, Oxford and Swindon. Your work will be varied, on commercial, retail and office installations, and you'll be backed by a supportive, well-organised team.

  • Overtime at time and a half Monday to Saturday, and double time on Sundays and bank holidays

The role

  • Installing, terminating and testing Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A copper cabling (Cat7 where specified)
  • Installing containment, including basket, tray, trunking and conduit
  • Building and dressing communications cabinets to a high standard
  • Certifying links with Fluke DSX-series testers, then diagnosing and fixing any faults
  • Working from drawings, cable schedules, rack elevations and patching schematics
  • Labelling, recording and submitting test results and as-installed documentation
  • Working safely in live sites and new builds, with early starts, evenings or weekends when the project needs them

What you'll need

  • Proven hands-on experience in structured copper cabling installation, termination and fault-finding
  • Experience using Fluke DSX or equivalent certification equipment
  • A valid CSCS or ECS card
  • IPAF certification
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel within the region, and occasionally further afield
  • A clear basic DBS check (the cost is reimbursed)

Nice to have

  • Fibre-optic installation or testing experience
  • PASMA certification
  • Experience in live retail, hospitality, office or warehouse environments
