We are recruiting on behalf of an established engineering business for a Buyer & Office Manager to support the smooth running of its day-to-day operations. This is a broad role combining purchasing, supplier coordination, office management and commercial administration. You will take ownership of routine procurement activity while also helping to keep projects, finance, logistics and general business processes organised and moving efficiently.

Responsibilities will include raising purchase orders and managing day-to-day purchasing activity, monitoring supplier deliveries and lead times, maintaining supplier records, supporting supplier onboarding and liaising with suppliers to expedite orders where required.

You will also support project procurement, track costs and commitments, process supplier invoices, maintain purchasing and sales records and assist with management reporting, budgeting and expenditure tracking.

The role will involve maintaining accurate information within the company’s ERP system, coordinating goods receipts and stock movements, supporting stock control and stock takes, and coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments.

You will also support general office activities including travel, meetings, company records, quality and compliance administration, and identifying opportunities to improve purchasing and administrative processes.

Buyer - About you - Office Manager, Procurement, Purchasing, Administration, Part Time

We are looking for someone with broad commercial and administrative experience who is comfortable taking ownership of multiple areas of a small or growing business.

You are likely to have at least 5 years’ experience in purchasing, business administration, procurement support, finance administration or project support, ideally within an engineering, manufacturing or technology environment.

You should have a good understanding of purchasing and supplier management, strong organisational and communication skills, good Microsoft Office and general IT capability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or another ERP system would be beneficial, as would exposure to inventory management, logistics, financial reporting or ISO 9001 environments.
