Service Desk Technician

Futures Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing client on the outskirts of Hull to recruit an experienced Service Desk Engineer. This role is perfect for someone with proven 1st and 2nd line IT support experience who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, and working closely with people across a business.

You’ll be the go-to person for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving IT issues — from everyday hardware glitches to complex network problems — ensuring smooth operations in a busy, manufacturing-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 2nd line support for a wide range of hardware and software issues.

• Diagnose and resolve problems with PCs, servers, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and networks.

• Maintain and support manufacturing-specific IT systems and applications.

• Provide support across Windows environments.

• Conduct root cause analysis to reduce repeat incidents.

• Keep IT documentation, asset registers, and user guides up to date.

• Work with 1st and 3rd line teams to escalate and resolve complex issues.

• Assist with the maintenance of IT infrastructure (switches, routers, Wi-Fi).

• Ensure all work aligns with security and compliance standards.

• Support IT-related projects, upgrades, and rollouts.

Experience & Skills

• Proven track record in 2nd line IT support.

• Strong hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting skills (PCs, laptops, printers, barcode scanners).

• Experience with manufacturing or industrial IT systems (desirable).

• Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.

• Confident communicator, able to explain technical issues in plain English.
