We’re looking for Systems Design Engineers to join a growing team delivering advanced integrated operational systems used in complex, real-world environments across land and maritime domains.

This role would suit engineers from sectors such as defence, aerospace, marine, rail, automotive or any industry working with complex, integrated systems.

The position is hybrid, with 3 to 4 days per week on site in Bristol due to the nature of the work.

The role

You’ll play a key part in the design and development of integrated operational systems software, supporting both enhancements to existing platforms and the development of new capabilities.

This is a role at the heart of the full product lifecycle, working closely with systems architects, software teams and integration specialists. You’ll gain a clear view of how complex systems are designed, built and used in operational environments.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the functional design of complex software systems
  • Working closely with systems and software architects to shape solutions
  • Analysing requirements, interfaces and system behaviour
  • Proposing design improvements and technical solutions
  • Exploring performance, including algorithmic and data-driven elements
  • Defining requirements across both software and hardware
  • Investigating and resolving technical queries

The systems you’ll work on help users interpret complex data, make informed decisions and manage operations in time-critical situations.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in systems engineering or systems design within complex environments
  • Background in industries such as defence, aerospace, automotive, marine, rail or similar
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in technically challenging work
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience

What’s on offer

  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Competitive pension contribution
  • Paid overtime opportunities
  • Flexible leave with the option to buy additional days
  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • On-site facilities including subsidised meals and parking
  • Ongoing training and clear career progression
