Data & Digital Solicitor (3+ years') – Aberdeen
A highly regarded law firm is looking to recruit a Data & Digital Solicitor to join its team in Aberdeen. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor with experience in data protection, privacy and commercial law to advise on complex matters for a diverse client base across a range of sectors.
The Role
The role will involve a broad range of data protection and digital advisory work, including data subject access requests (DSARs), privacy compliance and data rights management.
Responsibilities will include:
- Advising clients on UK GDPR, EU GDPR, PECR and wider data protection and privacy matters
- Managing complex DSARs and data subject rights requests, including scoping, review, redaction and disclosure
- Supporting clients with privacy compliance projects, data mapping, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), international data transfers and incident response
- Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including data processing and data sharing agreements
- Advising on IT, digital and intellectual property matters
- Building strong client relationships and delivering practical, commercially focused advice
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across different practice areas to deliver integrated client solutions
- Contributing to client training, business development and the continued development of the practice
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- At least 3 years' PQE, with experience in data protection, privacy and information law
- Hands-on experience advising on DSARs and wider data subject rights, ideally involving complex or high-volume requests
- A strong understanding of UK GDPR, EU GDPR and PECR
- Experience drafting commercial contracts and advising on data and digital matters
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
- A pragmatic, commercially minded approach, with the ability to manage complex projects and advise on risk
Experience with privacy technology, AI governance, international data transfers or large-scale DSAR programmes would be advantageous.
