The team works with a diverse client base, advising businesses ranging from entrepreneurial and emerging companies through to established corporates and larger organisations.The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate/Partner-level Solicitor with approximately 4–8+ years' PQE to join the firm's Legal team and play a key role within its non-contentious commercial IP practice. The position will focus on advising clients on sophisticated commercial and technology transactions, with intellectual property sitting at the heart of much of the work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to handle a varied and high-quality caseload covering commercial agreements, IT and technology contracts, IP licensing and assignments, software and SaaS arrangements, collaboration and R&D agreements, as well as supply, distribution and other commercial arrangements. The role will involve advising clients on the development, exploitation and commercialisation of their IP and technology, while providing commercially focused advice that takes account of their wider business objectives. The position would suit an experienced commercial solicitor who enjoys working closely with clients and wants to develop their practice within a specialist IP environment. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of significant matters, develop key client relationships and work alongside experienced specialists across the firm's wider IP offering. There is also scope for the successful individual to contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice through business development and client relationship management. Salary: From £88,000+, dependent upon experience, work location and background. Responsibilities
- Advising clients on complex non-contentious commercial and IP matters.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating sophisticated commercial and IT agreements.
- Advising on IP licensing, assignment and commercialisation arrangements.
- Handling software licensing and SaaS agreements.
- Advising on collaboration, R&D and technology development agreements.
- Advising on supply, distribution, agency and other commercial contracts.
- Supporting clients with the exploitation and protection of their intellectual property and technology.
- Managing significant client matters with a high degree of autonomy.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice tailored to individual client requirements.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider IP and Legal teams.
- Supporting and mentoring more junior lawyers where appropriate.
- Identifying and developing business development opportunities.
- Contributing to the continued growth and development of the firm's commercial IP offering.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with approximately 4–8+ years' PQE.
- Strong experience in non-contentious commercial law.
- Demonstrable experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Strong experience across IT, technology and/or IP-related matters.
- Experience of IP licensing and commercialisation work.
- Experience with software, SaaS, technology or similar agreements would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property and its commercial application.
- Excellent client management and relationship-building skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
- Ability to manage complex matters independently and take ownership of client relationships.
- A track record of contributing to business development would be advantageous.
