GFO-X is the UK's first regulated and centrally cleared trading venue dedicated to digital asset derivatives. GFO-X has partnered with LCH SA which will offer clearing of Bitcoin index futures and options contracts traded on GFO-X, subject to regulatory approval. This will be made available through a new segregated clearing service, LCH DigitalAssetClear. GFO-X services large global institutional participants who require a regulated, institutional-grade trading venue for digital asset derivatives, including bitcoin index futures and options.

GFO-X is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join our team on a contract basis. You will play a key role in bringing the sophistication and robustness of traditional derivatives markets to the rapidly expanding digital asset ecosystem. As part of the Quantitative and Data Analytics team, you will work on the valuation, risk management, and market data infrastructure supporting GFO-X's regulated trading venue and central clearing ecosystem. Reporting directly to the Head of Quantitative and Data Analytics, you will contribute to the development of robust quantitative models and analytics within a fast-paced, innovative environment operating at the forefront of regulated crypto derivatives markets.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working with a broad range of stakeholders, including technology teams, risk management, senior leadership, clearing operations, compliance teams, and regulators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the accurate and timely end-of-day, intraday, and near real-time valuation of financial instruments across trading and clearing platforms.
  • Monitor and validate quantitative models, valuation outputs, and market inputs to ensure robustness and consistency.
  • Oversee the collection, validation, and maintenance of market data from external venues, including the calculation and governance of market indices.
  • Develop and enhance volatility surface construction, interpolation, and curve-fitting methodologies for both liquid and illiquid instruments.
  • Analyse internal and external market data to identify trends and market dynamics.
  • Support the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of derivatives pricing and risk models.
  • Conduct quantitative research and contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical frameworks and methodologies.
  • Produce research papers, market insights, and analytical publications leveraging proprietary market and crypto derivatives data for both internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with teams across Risk, Technology, Clearing, Compliance, Sales, and Operations to support business objectives.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a quantitative analytics, quantitative research, or derivatives-focused role.
  • MSc, PhD, or equivalent degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Financial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of derivatives markets, including futures and options pricing, volatility surface construction, Greeks, and curve modelling techniques.
  • Knowledge of risk methodologies, including Value-at-Risk (VaR), Expected Shortfall (ES), liquidity risk, concentration risk, and counterparty credit risk.
  • Advanced Python programming skills and experience working with SQL databases.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, version control, and production-quality code development.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce detailed technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities within a fast-moving environment.

Desirable

  • Experience within an exchange, clearing house (CCP), market infrastructure provider, or derivatives trading environment.
  • Experience with C/C++ or other high-performance programming languages.
  • Familiarity with digital assets, cryptocurrency derivatives, or blockchain technologies.
  • Experience applying machine learning, statistical modelling, or advanced data science techniques to financial markets.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools, agentic AI platforms, or AI-assisted development workflows to enhance quantitative research, analytics, or software development.
