IT Helpdesk Technician Apprentice

You will begin with structured, process-led tasks such as building and preparing computers, installing approved software, handling equipment, and creating, changing or removing user accounts. You will progress into first-line support, Microsoft 365 administration, troubleshooting, customer communication, monitoring and on-site work.

Role

  • Build, configure and quality-check laptops and desktop computers using documented GHS processes
  • Install Windows updates, approved applications, security software and standard customer configurations
  • Create, amend and disable user accounts, email accounts and access permissions by following authorised requests and checklists
  • Prepare equipment for customers, including asset recording, labelling, packing and checking accessories
  • Assist with goods in and goods out, stock control and the organisation of workshop and build areas
  • Keep accurate records of work completed, including clear ticket notes, build sheets, time entries and final checks
  • Carry out password resets and other low-risk, process-led administration under supervision
  • Learn how to identify information safely, follow security procedures and protect customer data
  • Ask for help early and escalate anything outside your training, authority or experience
  • You will progress into more complex responsibilities as your apprenticeship progresses

Training

The programme integrates live and online workshops with self-paced learning, employing a guided discovery approach for individual learner contexts.

Learners are assigned a Digital Learning Consultant (DLC) for personalised coaching and support. These specialists ensure their successful progress, wellbeing, and readiness for assessments.
