The Role

To support our growing portfolio we’re looking for individuals who possess a strong technical understanding of the live broadcast environment. You will be a team leader, excellent communicator and a natural problem solver. You will be responsible for high quality graphics delivery through technical planning, integration and maintenance of real-time broadcast graphics systems across studio, remote and live event environments. You will work collaboratively across the wider Girraphic team to drive innovation and future-proof the graphics ecosystem by owning technical project delivery and system design; whilst leading and mentoring our wider technical team. Strong working knowledge of PC hardware, camera rigging coupled with virtual tracking system and software used to support real-time graphics is advantageous.

This role is full time, based onsite in our London office (SW19), supporting a portfolio requiring flexibility with non-traditional hours and the ability to oversee key projects on the ground both domestically and internationally at times.

What you will do:

  • Act as technical lead on projects from concept to delivery, coordinating technical requirements across all required departments
  • Develop technical documentation and integration schedules for graphics systems, upgrades and live event deployments
  • Evaluate and advise on system requirements, overseeing implementation and testing of broadcast graphics workflows
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot real-time graphics platforms (e.g., Vizrt, Unreal Engine) alongside Girraphic owned hardware (servers laptops, cameras, tracking systems etc)
  • Ensure alignment with broadcast standards and network architecture guidelines
  • Lead technology design, installation and integration of projects in a broadcast IP and IT centric environment - including server based systems, data networking (routers, switches)
  • Anticipate and resolve complex technical issues for critical on air production systems, both onsite and remotely ensuring no disruption to live production requirements
  • Deploy virtual and augmented reality graphics systems, ensuring synchronisation with camera tracking, keying and rendering pipelines
  • Coordinate with external engineering and technical departments to deploy systems within control rooms, OB units and cloud based environments
  • Design and document graphics workflow diagrams to streamline production and reduce latency or failure points
  • Identify and implement improvements for automation, redundancy and failover in live broadcast environments
  • Standardise configuration templates and system naming conventions to enhance scalability and repeatability across multiple productions or facilities
  • Lead pre-broadcast technical checks, ensuring all graphics elements, data links, and systems are operational and aligned with production requirements
  • Conduct post-broadcast debriefs and generate technical reports to improve reliability and reduce future risk
  • Evaluate new tools, plugins, and workflows for potential adoption or integration into existing systems
  • Develop proof-of-concept projects and prototype workflows to demonstrate stability, innovation or scalability
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and strategic planning documents to inform future infrastructure and technical decisions
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including clients, suppliers and internal teams
  • Provide guidance mentorship to junior technicians on operational best practices
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers for software updates, feature requests and bug resolution (as required)

Who you are:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, IT or related field
  • Experience with Vizrt, Unreal Engine or similar real-time rendering engines
  • Working knowledge of networking principles, video signal flow and data-driven broadcast systems
  • Experience with virtual set systems, tracking technologies and keying pipelines, including onsite rigging and calibration
  • Demonstrated experience in managing concurrent technical projects under tight deadlines
  • Strong communicator (written and verbal) with exceptional documentation skills
  • Proactive approach to technical maintenance and innovation
  • Ability to analytical problem solve under pressures of live broadcast environments
  • Adaptable with live production demands and evolving technology
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (holds valid passport)

Extra Credit:

  • 2 years+ experience managing a team of 3 (or more) people
  • Experience with Vizrt, Ross XPression, ChyronHego, Unity, Stype, Mosys
  • Google Suite
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of HTML, Javascript, Python, VB Script
  • Familiarity with 3D workflows
