Head of Technology

Role Overview

The Head of Technology will lead the UK & Ireland technology function, providing clear ownership, direction, and accountability across all technology-related activity.

This role sits at the intersection of logistics, technology, and data, ensuring technology solutions support both client delivery and internal operational efficiency. The position leads a multi-disciplinary team across Data, Business Analysis, Integrations, and Client Solutions, driving collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Technology Leadership
  • Own and lead all UK & Ireland technology initiatives

  • Provide clear prioritisation, governance, and accountability

  • Align technology delivery with business and client objectives

Client & Project Delivery
  • Oversee delivery of client-facing technology projects

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, to scope, and to standard

  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex technology matters

Operational Improvement
  • Drive automation and system optimisation across logistics operations

  • Reduce manual processes and improve efficiency through technology

  • Support structured change management and adoption

Platform Adoption & Data
  • Increase adoption and effective use of technology platforms

  • Oversee reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics

  • Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and governance

Team Leadership
  • Lead, develop, and support cross-functional technology teams

  • Promote documentation, cross-training, and resilience

  • Build a high-performing, collaborative team culture

Skills & Experience
  • Strong background in freight forwarding or global logistics

  • Experience with logistics systems (TMS, ERP, workflow platforms)

  • Proven delivery of technology-led transformation projects

  • Client-facing technology and solution delivery experience

  • Strong analytical, reporting, and data-led decision-making skills

  • Commercial awareness and understanding of ROI and value delivery

  • Confident communicator with senior stakeholders

  • Organised, proactive, and solutions-focused leadership style
