The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Operations Manager (SOC Manager) to lead and evolve a high-performing Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) within a complex and highly regulated environment.

This is a senior-level contract role where you will define operational strategy, strengthen cyber resilience, and lead the organisation’s capability to detect, respond to, and recover from cyber threats in real time.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders and external agencies, ensuring cyber security operations align with national standards and evolving threat landscapes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) and its day-to-day effectiveness
  • Driving real-time detection, response, and resolution of cyber security incidents
  • Owning and improving the cyber incident response strategy and playbooks
  • Acting as a senior advisor to leadership on cyber risk, incidents, and resilience
  • Overseeing SIEM, logging, monitoring, and threat detection capabilities
  • Developing a use-case-driven approach to security monitoring and alerting
  • Managing vulnerability identification, remediation, and mitigation processes
  • Leading threat intelligence analysis and dissemination across the business
  • Ensuring alignment with national cyber frameworks and regulatory requirements
  • Engaging with external agencies during major cyber incidents
  • Shaping investment decisions across tooling, governance, and SOC capability

What We’re Looking For

You will bring proven experience in leading or managing a Security Operations Centre (SOC/CSOC) within a complex environment.

Essential Experience

  • Strong background in SOC operations, incident response, and cyber threat management
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and network monitoring
  • Expertise in vulnerability management and remediation
  • Solid understanding of:
  • GDPR
  • NIS Regulations
  • NCSC guidance
  • Familiarity with:
  • MITRE ATT&CK framework
  • ITIL practices
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including senior and external engagement
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels

Desirable

  • Experience within government or regulated environments
  • Exposure to large-scale enterprise or critical national infrastructure
  • Cyber security certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, GIAC)

  • Location: Remote (UK-based) with occasional travel if required
  • Contract Length: 6 months
