Deputy Director – Legal Practice Management Programme

Senior Leadership | Major Transformation Programme

We are seeking an experienced transformation leader to join a high-profile Legal Practice Management (LPM) Programme at a critical stage of delivery.

This role will lead a large-scale modernisation programme transforming legal service delivery through new technology, operating models and ways of working. The successful candidate will bring strong experience delivering complex government programmes and be familiar with GDS

Service Standards and the Technical Code of Practice (TCOP).

Contract Length: 24 months

Location: Locations considered are: London, Croydon, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester. (If not London-based weekly visits to the London HQ 102 Petty France will be required) 60% onsite requirement per week.

IR35: Inside

Pay Rate to Candidate: £800 - £900 per day

Security Clearance: If successful you must hold, or be willing to obtain, security clearance to SC level before taking up post. The successful applicant will then be required to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) following commencement of the role if required.

The Role

As Deputy Director and Programme Director, you will lead the delivery of the LPM Programme across legal and technology workstreams.

You will:

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end LPM Programme
  • Build and maintain a high-performing delivery team
  • Finalise and secure approval for the Final Business Case
  • Develop and deliver the Beta Phase (development, testing, business change and operational readiness)
  • Ensure integration with HR and Finance systems
  • Manage programme budget, risks and governance
  • Deliver clear reporting to senior stakeholders including Executive Committee and Board-level forums
  • Ensure compliance with Government Functional Standards and GDS requirements

You will act as a visible leader, engaging confidently at senior levels and driving organisational adoption of new systems and ways of working.

Essential Experience

  • Proven success delivering large-scale transformation programmes
  • Experience delivering technology-enabled change within government
  • Successful completion of:
  • Government Project Delivery assurance gates
  • GDS service assessments

Desirable

  • Legal Practice Management Systems
  • Case Management Systems

Skills & Qualifications

  • Programme Director-level leadership (SCS1 equivalent)
  • Expert stakeholder engagement and governance
  • Strong digital and business change capability

Qualifications: APM, MSP or PRINCE2
