Digital Product Manager
Contract: 6 months
Location: Newport or Titchfield – approximately 40% on-site per week, with occasional travel between sites
IR35: Inside IR35
Rate: £897 per day via Umbrella
Security Clearance: Active SC clearance required
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Digital Product Manager to join a major public-sector digital transformation programme.
You will be responsible for managing a digital product through its full lifecycle, from discovery and alpha through beta and live. Working as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, you will set product direction, champion user needs and ensure the team delivers valuable, high-quality outcomes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Product Manager who enjoys working in complex environments and is confident balancing strategic product thinking with hands-on delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the product vision, scope and priorities.
- Manage the product through discovery, alpha, beta and live stages.
- Own, manage and prioritise the product backlog.
- Champion user needs through research, feedback, data and insight.
- Work closely with delivery, design, research, technology and data specialists.
- Develop and maintain product roadmaps where required.
- Ensure stories are clearly defined, prioritised and ready for delivery.
- Balance research, new features and continuous improvement.
- Work with Delivery Managers to ensure plans are realistic and blockers are removed.
- Collaborate with Technical Leads and Solutions Architects on appropriate technical solutions.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and communicate product progress effectively.
- Promote transparency through show and tells and open-working practices.
- Take responsibility for product quality and ensure relevant service standards are met.
- Identify and resolve complex operational and delivery issues.
- Support the adoption and integration of products with other services.
About You
You will have strong experience in digital product management and a proven ability to lead products across different stages of the product lifecycle.
You should have:
- Extensive Product Management experience across discovery, alpha, beta and live.
- Strong backlog management and prioritisation skills.
- Experience defining product vision, scope and roadmaps.
- A strong understanding of user-centred product development.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- An understanding of design, technology and data principles.
- Experience delivering MVPs and iterating based on evidence and user feedback.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to challenge assumptions and constraints constructively.
- Experience integrating digital products with other services.
- An understanding of operational processes and live service management.
- The ability to use evidence, outcomes and user insight to make informed product decisions.
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to provide leadership and direction.
