Lead Embedded Software Engineer
Lead Embedded Software Engineer
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Embedded Software Engineer to take technical ownership of complex, safety-critical engine control system projects.
You’ll lead a talented team of engineers, shaping the development of embedded control software that keeps aircraft engines performing safely and efficiently in the toughest environments.
This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge control systems - leading from the front, mentoring others, and driving excellence across requirements, architecture, and compliance.
We’re seeking a highly experienced Lead Embedded Software Engineer to guide the development of safety-critical control software used in advanced engineering systems.
If you’re motivated by technical challenge, precision, and the responsibility of creating software that directly impacts performance and safety, this opportunity is built for you.
What You’ll Do
- Provide technical leadership to a large engineering team developing embedded software for control and monitoring systems.
- Direct the capture, structuring, and validation of software requirements within an end-to-end traceability framework.
- Ensure that all development activities align with aerospace certification standards (DO-178C, ARP4754).
- Coordinate across systems, hardware, and verification disciplines to deliver fully integrated solutions.
- Introduce process improvements and automation using modern DevOps tools and methods.
- Represent the software function in project and customer meetings, supporting both technical and delivery objectives.
What You Bring
- Deep experience in embedded software engineering within a regulated or safety-critical industry (aerospace, defence, or similar).
- Proficiency in requirements management and software lifecycle assurance.
- Working knowledge of DOORS or comparable requirement tools.
- Understanding of DO-178C / ARP4754 and the associated verification processes.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a track record of mentoring engineering teams.
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Software, Electronics, Systems, or Control Engineering.
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to engine or propulsion control systems.
- Familiarity with MATLAB / Simulink modelling environments.
- Prior work within aerospace, defence, or high-reliability engineering domains.
