Senior Product Designer
Senior Product Designer (x2)
Hybrid · London · Permanent · Full-time
Up to £120,000 + Bonus + Equity + Benefits
Summary
We've partnered with a Series C digital bank built for the mass-affluent, a market sitting between high street banking and private wealth that's never really had either done properly for them.
They're profitable, growing fast, and heading toward IPO, and they're hiring two Senior Product Designers to join a small, senior design team.
One role is 1–100: scaling a savings product that already has real traction.
The other is 0–1: building a lending product that doesn't exist anywhere else in the UK market yet.
About the company
There's a huge segment of people who've fallen into a gap in financial services.
They've built up real wealth, often £500k to £2m, but they're not quite at the level where private banks will take them seriously, and they've long since outgrown the high street banks and challenger apps built for the mass market.
For years, nobody had built anything specifically for them.
This company exists to change that.
The mission is to become the most trusted home for that client type. Not by bolting together generic banking features, but by building a genuine intelligence layer across savings, investments, and net worth, with the sophistication of a private bank and the speed and clarity of the best modern fintechs. It's an unusually clear thesis, and it's working: in four years, the business has gone from nothing to profitable, with close to 100,000 clients and billions in deposits under management. They've done this without the kind of cash-burn growth playbook most fintechs rely on, proof that the product and the proposition are genuinely landing.
The leadership team is the reason this has happened as quickly as it has. They've built and scaled financial products before, several of them at a senior level inside major banks and private wealth institutions, and they've brought that experience into a company that still moves with real urgency.
Backing comes from serious international investors, the business is already being talked about as a future IPO candidate, and the ambition from here isn't to consolidate, it's to multiply. Multiple new product frontiers are being built at once, each treated with the seriousness of its own venture inside the business, each backed properly by leadership rather than left to fight for resources.
What makes this moment interesting isn't just the trajectory, it's the timing.
The foundations are built, the product-market fit is proven, and now is the point where new frontiers are being stood up from scratch. Early hires into these frontiers don't just join a team; they shape what the product becomes over the next three to five years.
That's a genuinely rare position to be in at a company this far along.
Design sits right at the centre of how this gets built. It's considered the strongest function in the business, structured flat, and trusted with real ownership, the kind of environment where a senior designer's judgement actually shapes commercial outcomes, not just screens.
The opportunities:
Two Senior Product Designer opportunities, both reporting into the same design leadership, both carrying real ownership, but very different in shape:
The 'Savings' role is about growth. The product works. Clients trust it. The job is to take what's already succeeding and make it significantly bigger: sharper onboarding, smarter experimentation, and new product extensions that build on a strong existing base.
The 'Lending' role is about creation. They're building something not seen before in the UK so there's no existing product to optimise and no direct competitor to benchmark against. You'll be shaping a completely new proposition from the ground up, defining not just how it looks, but why anyone would want it in the first place.
Both roles sit at the same level and come with comparable scope and reward.
The right fit depends entirely on which kind of problem energises you more.
Key responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end design for your product area, from research through to shipped product
- Partner closely with product, engineering, and senior leadership to shape direction, not just execute it.
- For Savings: Drive growth through experimentation, optimisation, and new feature development on a proven product.
- For Lending: Define the proposition and build the first version of a product with no existing UK benchmark.
- Use research meaningfully, targeted and practical for Savings, more exploratory and foundational for Lending.
- Bring rigour to a regulated, high-trust financial product without losing pace or ambition.
About you:
You're a Senior Product Designer who knows which of these challenges suits you, because you've likely lived a version of it before.
For Savings, that means real experience scaling a product, taking something from a smaller base to a meaningfully bigger one, ideally inside a Series B–D business.
For Lending, that means genuine zero-to-one experience, building something from nothing, where the hardest job was working out what the product should even be.
Across both roles, we're looking for:
- A portfolio that demonstrates a high bar for visual craft as well as a deep understanding of how your work connects to business outcomes.
- Experience designing B2C Mobile app products.
- A background in fintech or wealthtech is ideal, but open to other high-trust or regulated product environments.
- Strong research and UX instincts, with the judgement to know how much research a problem actually needs.
- Comfort using AI tools as part of how you work day to day.
- Genuine curiosity about this market and real enthusiasm for the company — it shows quickly, and it matters
What's in it for you:
- Base salary £90,000 – £120,000, depending on experience
- Sizeable bonus scheme
- Meaningful equity in a business heading toward IPO
- A 9% non-contributory pension plan, increased to 10% if you put in just 1%.
- Healthcare and life insurance
- Hybrid working
- 30 days work from abroad
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- And more!
