The Gamecrafters' Collective is a remote, profit-sharing indie games studio operating as a cooperative. We build original games, share in the upside, and give aspiring and experienced creators the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to real projects.

We're currently recruiting volunteers across multiple live game projects.

Open Roles (Volunteer / Profit Share)

 

Game Designers & Level Designers

You'll:

  • Design engaging mechanics, systems, and player experiences
  • Create compelling levels, progression, and gameplay loops
  • Develop and maintain game design documentation
  • Collaborate closely with developers and artists

Ideal if you:

  • Think about games from a player-first perspective
  • Understand MVP thinking and iterative development
  • Enjoy turning ideas into playable experiences
  • Can balance creativity with practical delivery
Game Producers

You'll:

  • Help coordinate project delivery and milestones
  • Support sprint planning and team communication
  • Track progress and remove blockers
  • Help keep projects moving towards release

Ideal if you:

  • Enjoy organisation and bringing people together
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Can balance structure with flexibility
  • Like helping creative teams succeed
Unity Developers

You'll:

  • Build gameplay systems and core mechanics
  • Integrate art, UI, audio, and game systems
  • Optimise performance and stability
  • Collaborate closely with designers and artists

Ideal if you:

  • Have solid C# and Unity experience
  • Understand gameplay architecture
  • Enjoy solving technical challenges

3D Modellers

You'll:

  • Create game-ready characters, props, and environments
  • Support world-building across multiple genres
  • Optimise assets for real-time performance
  • Work closely with developers and designers

Ideal if you:

  • Have a strong portfolio of 3D work
  • Understand game asset pipelines
  • Enjoy creating immersive worlds
  • Can balance quality and performance
UI/UX Designers

You'll:

  • Design intuitive menus, interfaces, and player journeys
  • Create wireframes, mock-ups, and UI assets
  • Improve accessibility and usability
  • Collaborate closely with designers and developers

  • Understand game UI conventions
  • Enjoy solving usability challenges

Game Mathematicians

You'll:

  • Support game balancing and progression systems
  • Design and analyse probability, economy, and reward models
  • Help optimise gameplay mechanics through data
  • Work with designers to create engaging player experiences

Ideal if you:

  • Love solving mathematical problems
  • Enjoy balancing systems and game economies
  • Think analytically about player behaviour
  • Want to apply maths in creative ways
Game Playtesters

You'll:

  • Playtest builds and provide structured feedback
  • Identify bugs, balancing issues, and usability concerns
  • Help validate gameplay assumptions
  • Support continuous improvement through testing

Ideal if you:

  • Love analysing games critically
  • Can communicate feedback clearly
  • Notice details others miss
  • Enjoy helping shape better player experiences
Game Marketing & Community

You'll:

  • Grow and nurture player communities
  • Create content across social channels
  • Support launch and growth campaigns
  • Manage Discord and community engagement

Ideal if you:

  • Understand gamer culture
  • Enjoy building genuine communities
  • Have strong content creation skills
  • Can turn player feedback into insight
Game Fundraising & Kickstarter

You'll:

  • Support crowdfunding and fundraising initiatives
  • Help prepare Kickstarter campaigns and rewards
  • Research funding opportunities and partnerships
  • Assist with campaign messaging and promotion

Ideal if you:

  • Enjoy storytelling and persuasion
  • Understand crowdfunding platforms
  • Are commercially minded
  • Want to help bring great games to market
What Makes Us Different?

This is a volunteer role. There is no salary.

All contributors share in profits based on contribution under our co-op model.

Team meetings typically run between 18:00–21:00 UK time, so please ensure that works in your timezone.
