Commissioning Engineer – Schneider PLC | Dagenham | ContractLocation: Dagenham, EssexContract Type: ContractorWorking Hours: Monday–Friday, 07:30–16:00Rate: £40 - £50 (Outside IR35)Weekend Support: Approximately two weekends per monthThe RoleWe are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support an automated manufacturing project in Dagenham.
This is a hands-on role combining basic PLC software development, commissioning, fault finding and production-line support . The successful contractor will work with Schneider Electric PLC systems, making software modifications and supporting the implementation and testing of changes on an operational production line.
Key Skills RequiredStrong experience with Schneider Electric PLCsProven experience with PL7Experience with Unity Pro / EcoStruxure Control ExpertAbility to make basic PLC software modifications and developmentsStrong commissioning and fault-finding experienceComfortable working directly on automated production linesExperience within automotive or advanced manufacturing environments is highly desirableResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for: Developing and modifying PLC softwareCarrying out commissioning activities on automated production equipmentWalking the production line to identify and resolve faultsTesting and validating software changesPreparing software updates for planned weekend maintenance windowsSupporting commissioning and production activities as requiredWorking closely with site and engineering teams to ensure equipment is operating correctlyWeekend RequirementThe project requires on-site support for approximately two weekends per month , ideally on consecutive weekends.
Weekend work will primarily involve implementing, testing and commissioning software changes during planned maintenance and production shutdown periods.
About YouWe are looking for a practical, hands-on Commissioning Engineer who can combine PLC programming knowledge with strong on-site commissioning skills. You should be confident working with both legacy and modern Schneider PLC platforms , including PL7 and Unity Pro/Control Expert, and be comfortable troubleshooting automation systems in a live manufacturing environment.
