Battery & Thermal Systems Lead Engineer (Automotive)

As a Battery Cooling Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • end-to-end development of Automotive Battery and Engine cooling system - from concept through launch.
  • managing technical delivery, supplier coordination, and attribute validation to ensure that seat systems meet OEM’s standards for comfort, safety, aesthetics, and innovation
  • evaluating and implementing cost reduction (VAVE) proposals

Your responsibilities:

  • Delivering engineering solutions for both prototype and production parts
  • Optimized design solutions for weight, cost, manufacturing feasibility, quality and functional attributes
  • Ensure adherence to OEM specific processes and procedures to deliver robust, fully validated geometric compatible commodities
  • Ensure adherence to OEM specific PLM standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clearly communicate design status to key stakeholders such as manufacturing, suppliers, component owners and management

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Experience in Design, development and launch of Automotive Battery and Engine cooling system includes commodities like radiator, condenser stack integration, charge air cooler, EGR cooler, oil cooler, degas bottle, pump—mechanical/electric, thermostat/valve, fans & shrouds, hoses/pipes, quick connectors, valves, sensors).
  • Lead Cooling system architecture development: Heat exchanger stack, Airflow management, coolant circuit topology (primary/secondary loops), heat up/cool down strategies, and electrification interfaces (e pump, PTC heaters, battery thermal interfaces where applicable).
  • Experience in managing supplier teams for the delivery of program milestones
  • Experience in ensuring design solutions meeting program level targets for cost & weight, legal regulations & DV requirements, optical quality and Product Audit requirements
  • Experience in maintaining commodity documentation up to date including meeting minutes, foundation & program DFMEAs, DFM/DFA, quality history & bill of design
  • Experience in creating and maintaining of BOM, 3D models, 2D drawing and GD&T using CATIA V5 and tolerance stack up
  • Capable of handling projects independently and working closely with CAE team to achieve the desired targets (Functional and NVH).
  • Supporting in creating and updating supplier RFI/RFQ.
  • Experience in complying with the commodity / System and vehicle level test requirement with detail planning of test & development
  • Knowledge of issue management and build support.
  • Component Ownership, Design and Release, Catia V5/V6, 3DX,

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Creating and proposing alternative solutions considering VAVE ideas.
  • Working knowledge of problem resolution techniques & Root cause analysis techniques (e.g. Six Sigma, 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D, Ishikawa)
