Foundry Testing Engineer
The Role
The Foundry Testing Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of semiconductor devices manufactured at the foundry. The role involves wafer sort, final test, yield analysis, test program development, and close collaboration with design, process, and manufacturing teams to optimize test coverage and production yield.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Development & Execution
- Develop, debug, and maintain ATE test programs for wafer sort and final test
- Define test flows, limit setting, binning strategies, and fault coverage
- Support new product introduction (NPI) testing activities
Manufacturing & Operations Support
- Execute and monitor wafer probing and final test operations
- Investigate and resolve test-related failures, yield loss, and test escapes
- Support high-volume manufacturing (HVM) testing
Yield & Failure Analysis
- Analyze test data to identify yield trends, anomalies, and root causes
- Work with process and device teams to drive yield improvement initiatives
- Perform correlation between wafer sort, final test, and reliability data
Equipment & Tool Management
- Work with ATE platforms (e.g., Teradyne, Advantest)
- Support test hardware: probe cards, load boards, sockets
- Coordinate equipment qualification, calibration, and change management
Collaboration & Documentation
- Interface with design, DFT, process, and reliability teams
- Prepare test documentation, reports, and transition packages
- Support customer audits and quality reviews when required
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor devices and fabrication processes
- Experience with DFT concepts (Scan, JTAG, BIST, etc.)
- Proficiency in at least one ATE platform:
- Teradyne (UltraFLEX, J750)
- Advantest (V93K, T2000)
- Data analysis using Python, JMP, Excel, or SQL
- Understanding of yield analysis, SPC, and test coverage metrics
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills
- Ability to work in cross‐functional and cross‐site teams
- Clear technical communication and documentation skills
