Software Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager | London | Hybrid (2 days onsite)

Contract | 6 months | Strong day rate

Lead from the front. This is a hands-on leadership role driving delivery across a high-performing engineering team within a retail-focused environment.

What you’ll do:

• Manage and mentor a team of up to 10 engineers
• Own delivery, planning, and execution across the SDLC
• Partner with Product and Programme to align tech with commercial goals
• Drive Agile maturity, remove blockers, and improve velocity
• Oversee technical design, code quality, CI/CD, and operational readiness
• Support hiring, onboarding, and continuous development
• Balance innovation with technical debt and business priorities

What you’ll bring:

• Proven Engineering Manager experience in modern product-led environments
• Strong grasp of software engineering best practices and architecture
• Solid Agile delivery background
• Commercial awareness with a customer-first mindset
• Ability to make decisions quickly and cut through noise

This is not a “sit back and manage” role. You’ll be expected to challenge, improve, and deliver.
