Founding Engineer

We're partnering with a fast-growing London-based startup that's building the next generation of intelligent financial infrastructure. They're developing a cutting-edge data and AI platform designed to power decision-making and automation across complex financial workflows.

As a Senior AI Engineer / Founding Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and building the core architecture - defining how modular components communicate, scale, and integrate with enterprise systems. You'll help shape the technical direction of the platform from day one and work closely with the founding team to bring ambitious ideas to life.

What You'll Do

• Architect and build a scalable, modular platform that integrates diverse data sources and systems
• Define component architecture, communication patterns, and integration frameworks across a complex data ecosystem
• Design flexible data ingestion and transformation pipelines for financial market data and trading systems
• Build and maintain AI/ML infrastructure, including model serving, evaluation, and observability frameworks
• Collaborate directly with clients to ensure the platform meets real-world enterprise requirements
• Contribute to both strategic technical direction and hands-on implementation as part of a small, high-performing team

About You

• Degree-qualified in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
• 5+ years' experience designing and building complex platforms or systems, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment
• Proven track record of architecting scalable, extensible systems with strong component-level design
• Background in finance or fintech - experience with market data, trading systems, or enterprise financial applications
• Ideally from a B2B company serving enterprise clients, comfortable building production systems for large-scale users
• Strong understanding of AI/ML infrastructure patterns and how to bring models into production
