Automation Project Engineer

Location: Redditch
Rate: £30 - £45 per hour (DOE)
Hours: 39 per week
Contract Type: 12-month rolling contract

We're looking for a hands-on Automation Engineer to lead the installation of robotic and automated production lines as part of a major transformation programme. This is a contract role ideal for someone with strong project engineering experience and a passion for automation.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the installation of robotic and automated systems across manufacturing lines.
* Identify manual processes suitable for automation and assess cost vs. savings.
* Write and issue RFQs to suppliers, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with business needs.
* Compare supplier proposals and manage sourcing events.
* Oversee layout changes and coordinate with internal departments (IT, Maintenance, etc.).
* Manage suppliers and integrators, ensuring alignment timing plans.
* Conduct and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), ensuring installations meet RFQ specifications.
* Maintain project documentation and lead internal reviews.

Requirements:
* Strong project management skills with experience in automation or engineering project delivery.
* Understanding of automation systems and PLCs (no programming required).
* Experience managing suppliers and integration partners.
* Familiarity with layout planning, timing plans, and contractor control procedures.
* Relevant Engineering qualification required.
