Working closely with your line manager, and being enrolled onto their bespoke graduate training plan, you'll pick up invaluable practical skills and develop your career in data analysis.  In this role, you'll have the opportunity to build and innovate, analyse data, automate processes, ensure compliance and add value to accounting processes. This person will have the opportunity to support Verizon's continued growth in digital finance.  Key responsibilities - Computer Science Analyst - Berkshire
In this Junior Finance Analyst role in Berkshire, your responsibilities will include:
  • Building a good understanding of the core purpose of the finance / accounting function by getting involved in varied activities
  • Gaining an understanding of internal accounting policies, SOX controls and relevant GAAP to ensure complete compliance
  • Using various digital systems and software to perform a wide variety of data analysis
  • Investigate automation opportunities using digital software tools where possible
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to improve controls, efficiency and timeliness
  • Support group and local statutory accounting and audit process (if applicable)
  • Getting involved in ad hoc projects as deemed appropriate
  • Developing an understanding of the business environment of Verizon and its customers, alongside 5G Private Network, Professional Services, Unified Communications, & Security services solutions
  • Gaining practical applications of digital and analytical tools
Job requirements - Computer Science Analyst
  • A driven graduate with a degree in Computer Science, or  proficient experience working with the below software
  • Confident with some if not all of the following tools: VBA, VBS, SQL, Python, Qlik, Java andKNIME
  • Comfortable analysing data, with previous experience managing and analysing large data sets
  • Located in, or local to Reading, Berkshire - this is a hybrid role with at least 2-3 days per week in the office. 
  • Driven and ready to learn
  • Previous experience in a relevant position in analytics is highly beneficial but not necessary 
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a large, complex global team
  • Confident communicating with clients and internal teams; reporting and speaking on findings 
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Comfortable with technology (G Suite, Microsoft Office in particular) and learning new systems 
  • Confident in seeking out opportunities for process improvements
