Django Developer (London based)

Company description

GiveWheel is building the UK’s most innovative fundraising platform.

Winners of the London StartUp for Good Award 2025, we’re quickly becoming the most impactful force for good in digital fundraising. In 2026, GiveWheel will process over £10 million in donations across our platform.

We’re now expanding our core team to work closely with the founders and wider organisation as we enter our next phase of growth.

If you are entrepreneurial, curious, and motivated by real-world impact, this is an opportunity to help shape the future of fundraising at a fast-growing startup.

What the job involves

  • Full-Stack Development: Build and maintain end-to-end features across GiveWheel’s platform using the Django web framework, Django templates, Tailwind CSS and PostgreSQL. You’ll work on everything from database design and backend logic to frontend interfaces, ensuring a seamless experience for fundraisers and donors.
  • Feature Development & Product Ownership: You’ll be at the heart of GiveWheel’s product, designing and building new features from concept to launch using Django. You’ll help improve the user experience, optimise workflows, and ensure the platform scales as our user base grows.
  • Payments & API Integration: Our platform processes payments via Stripe. You’ll work on improving payment flows, integrating with APIs, and building new tools to make fundraising seamless. Experience with payment providers or APIs is a strong bonus.
  • Platform Infrastructure: You’ll maintain and enhance our cloud infrastructure (Heroku, AWS), monitor performance, and implement best practices for stability and scaling.
  • User-Focused Development: You’ll use feedback from fundraisers and donors to identify pain points, propose improvements, and implement features that have real impact. Your work will be visible to thousands of users.
  • Collaboration & Strategy: You’ll work closely with the founders to shape the roadmap, decide priorities, and experiment with new ideas. This isn’t just coding - it’s about deciding what we build and how it grows GiveWheel’s impact.

Who you are

  • Experienced in Django and web development, comfortable building full-featured applications.
  • Front-end development experience with Tailwind CSS and javascript libraries including Alpine JS.
  • Skilled with cloud deployment and infrastructure (Heroku, AWS, or similar).
  • Experienced with payment APIs (Stripe preferred) or confident picking up new integrations.
  • Passionate about product development – you enjoy shaping features, iterating, and improving user experience.
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving startup, taking ownership of your work and learning as you go.
  • Curious, proactive, and excited to see your work make a real impact.

Salary range: £35,000-45,000 per year

Location: London (hybrid 2-3 days per week in person)

Start Date: As soon as possible

This is a hands-on role where your work shapes the product and the future of digital fundraising. You’ll join a small, mission-driven team with the freedom to experiment, build features, and see the real-world impact of your work.
