Radiographer/Clinical Technologist Nuclear Medicine, Band 5

Job summary

Due to promotion an opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 5 Radiographer/Clinical Technologist to join the existing Nuclear Medicine team of 20 staff. This is an interesting and varied role providing support to the day-to-day operations of the Nuclear Medicine imaging & therapy departments and to the Radiopharmacy.

There are currently three gamma cameras over the two Trust sites, two with SPECT CT capability. At Gloucester Trust site there is the new SPECT-CT gamma camera installed in a recently upgraded department. The therapy department is based in the Oncology Centre, Cheltenham Trust site where we have dedicated Treatment Rooms. There is an in-house Radiopharmacy used for the daily manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals, which is operated jointly with the Pharmacy department. . This post is primarily to support both Imaging and Therapy, flexibility and travel between the sites will be required.

Additional working pattern details: There maybe on call, it will be no more than once a month

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the team and support the existing staff with the diagnostic imaging service, the therapy service and the Radiopharmacy. Applications are welcomed from candidates with a Nuclear Medicine or Medical Physics background who possess good interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

The post holder must be qualified to HNC level in a relevant science subject, or a qualified Radiographer. Specialist knowledge is acquired through short courses and updates.

For Clinical Technologists, after a 3-year qualifying time and completion of a Portfolio, they should be eligible for inclusion on the Voluntary Register of Clinical Technologists. Technical/Incorporated Membership of the IPEM is desirable.

Experience

Time to obtain the aforementioned qualifications with substantial years of training.

Other Skills

The post holder must have:

- Good team working skills

-Ability to work on own initiative within competencies achieved.

-Good keyboard skills for the manipulation of images.

- Detailed evidence of ongoing professional development by maintaining a portfolio.
