Lead Engineer/Head of Software - Go Eve
Lead Engineer/Head of Software
About Go Eve
Go Eve is building innovative EV charging infrastructure focused on solving one of the industry’s biggest problems: how to charge large numbers of vehicles with limited grid capacity and limited capital cost.
Our core platform, DockChain, allows multiple vehicles to share DC fast charging infrastructure through intelligent power and charging orchestration. We work across hardware, embedded systems, cloud software, fleet operations, energy optimization, and EV charging systems.
We are a small highly technical company operating internationally across Europe and North America. Our products are already certified and deployed in the field, and we are now scaling both our software platform and operational capabilities.
The Role
We are looking for a Lead Engineer/Head of Software to lead the development of Go Eve’s cloud, backend, integrations, and operational software systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO/CTO and cross-functional engineering teams to build the software layer underpinning intelligent EV charging infrastructure at scale. In many software-only companies, this would effectively be a CTO role. At Go Eve it sits alongside broader hardware and systems engineering leadership.
The role combines engineering leadership, system architecture, and real hands-on technical contribution on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of Go Eve’s software platform
- Own backend systems, APIs, frontend applications, cloud infrastructure, and software operations
- Manage and mentor internal and external software developers
- Design scalable systems for charger orchestration, telemetry, monitoring, and fleet charging management
- Work on integrations with:
- OCPP charging infrastructure
- Energy and utility platforms
- Payment and operational systems
- Build tools for:
- Device management & remote diagnostics
- Charging optimization
- Data visualization and reporting
- Collaborate with hardware and embedded engineering teams
- Improve software reliability, automated testing, CI/CD workflows, observability, and operational resilience. Support cybersecurity and secure infrastructure practices
- Contribute to technical strategy and product direction
- Help build engineering processes appropriate for a fast-moving startup environment
- Use modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation, testing, debugging, and productivity, while maintaining oversight for safe systems in an electrical context.
Ideal Candidate
You are likely someone who:
- Is deeply technical and relentlessly curious
- Has completed and led major technical initiatives and has led software teams
- Is highly pragmatic and execution-focused
- Can operate effectively in ambiguity and rapid-growth environments
- Understands how to balance speed, reliability, and long-term architecture
- Is comfortable moving between strategic thinking and detailed implementation
- Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Enjoys building products that interact with real-world infrastructure and hardware
- Has strong experience in backend and cloud software engineering
- Is an enthusiastic software person and coder
Experience with EV charging systems is desirable but not required. Strong candidates from adjacent domains such as cloud infrastructure, telecoms, industrial systems, IoT, robotics, energy, networking, or operational software platforms are encouraged to apply.
Technical Environment
The exact stack will continue evolving, but current technologies and areas include:
Cloud & Infrastructure
- GCP, Cloud Run / containerized services
Databases
- PostgreSQL, CockroachDB, MongoDB
APIs & Protocols
- REST APIs, WebSocket-based systems, OCPP and EV charging protocols
Frontend
- React-based frontend systems
Languages
- TypeScript (primary), Python, Go
Data & Telemetry
- Analytics and telemetry pipelines
Integration
- Hardware/IoT/cloud integration, MQTT
What We Offer
- Opportunity to shape a category-defining EV infrastructure platform
- Significant technical ownership and autonomy
- Work on real-world energy and transport challenges
- International projects and deployments
- Flexible working arrangements
- Competitive salary plus equity/options potential
- Build a team and have direct influence on company direction
Location
Flexible / hybrid. Candidates in Ireland, the UK, or Europe preferred.
- Travel to customer sites, deployments, and industry events may occasionally be required.
Note:
This job is also posted with a Irish location. It is the same role. Either location is possible.
