About LondonEnergy:
LondonEnergy operates the second largest waste contract in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London's waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across our various North London sites, making a positive difference to the environment and the local community.
By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.
About the role:
As a Business Data Analyst with a focus on data engagement, your role will be to bring the data to life with business. You'll spend time with teams across LEL, helping them understand what data is available, how to use it effectively, and how it can shape better decision making. You'll work closely with the Data Manager to ensure that data is in good quality, new dashboards, reports, and processes are designed around real user and the business needs—and that staff feel confident using them.
This role is a unique opportunity to sit at the heart of that transformation, working directly with teams across the organisation to help embed change, build understanding, and turn data into actions.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the main point of contact for operational teams, understanding their data needs and promoting data-driven decision making.
- Deliver training, support, and coaching to improve data literacy and confidence in using data tools.
- Lead discovery sessions to gather reporting requirements and translate them into clear report/dashboard specifications.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design standardised, user-friendly, and actionable reports.
- Help teams interpret reports, extract insights, and troubleshoot or enhance data use where needed.
- Conduct data analysis to identify insights, define and monitor data quality metrics, and support solutions to data issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by evaluating tool usage, identifying training needs, and escalating data/process issues.
Requirements
- Honours Degree in a STEM subject.
- Proficient in data analysis, cleansing, manipulation, and visualization using tools like Power BI and Excel.
- Experience as a business and data analyst, able to use the data analysis process to drive business impact, or similar roles in a change-heavy environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Skilled in gathering requirements and translating them into actionable insights and reports.
- Comfortable in low data maturity settings and experienced in coaching, training, and guiding others through change.
- Knowledge of data governance, quality issues, and change management principles.
