The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
We are seeking a dedicated Business Architect to join our team, reporting directly to the Assistant Head Business Architect within the Army Information Design Authority. In this role, you will be pivotal to the development and capture of business capabilities and aligning them to overall business strategy.
Collaboration with senior business architects, business analysts and functional stakeholders is key, as you help integrate business architecture into the organisation in a standard, repeatable and reusable manner.
The Info Design Authority is the mechanism by which Director Information and the Army Chief Technology Officer can operate as the digital functional leader for the British Army. The organisation and information capability-portfolio requires a digital, data, information and architectural governance capability to support and control design operational outcomes and warfighting effectiveness future proofing the Army's processes, information and technology footprint for maximum operational effectiveness across organisational boundaries in a digital and data age.
As the Business Architect, you will be required to:
- Apply and develop architectural frameworks, principles and techniques
- Understand and apply business architectural principles, techniques and tools to business scenarios
- Develop standard and scalable models to collect, aggregate, or disaggregate complex information
- Guide others in using appropriate business architectural tools and methods
- Explain complex business problems using clear language and artefacts
- Bring together disconnected information to inform decision making
- Recognise issues that cut across different areas of the organisation and present opportunities for improvement
- Responsible for the maintenance of the Army business architecture repository Person specification
Essential:
- Being well versed in communication and confident in explaining complex concepts and technologies to others
- Evidence of listening to the needs of design and business stakeholders and interpret information
- Knowledge of TOGAF or another architectural framework
- Experience in working in an Information, Data or Digital Discipline
Desirable:
- The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) Certified
- Knowledge of ArchiMate and Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN)
- Experience of using SPARX EA, ARCHI and Prolaborate Behaviours
