Graduate Placement

Salary: £26,648

About the Company

This global engineering and technology business supports critical infrastructure across sectors such as transport, energy, healthcare, and industry. Its teams create software, digital systems, automation tools, and smart solutions that help factories run efficiently, cities operate smoothly, transport networks stay reliable, and energy systems function safely and sustainably.

About the Opportunity

The organisation is offering an internship for undergraduates who want hands-on experience within a leading transport technology division. It is ideal for students eager to work on real projects, learn from industry specialists, and see how digital solutions shape everyday life. Interns are given the chance to follow the full lifecycle of technical products, from the initial idea to solutions used across major transport networks worldwide.

Within the mobility division, the Digital Business Solutions team delivers applications and data services that support rolling stock and customer service operations. These tools help technicians and engineers manage maintenance work, improve fleet performance, and produce data-driven insights that guide future planning and strategic decisions. Cyber security specialists also play a major part by supporting teams in ensuring products and solutions meet the required security standards throughout their development and delivery.

What the Role Involves

  • Work with central development teams to specify, configure, test, and support updates to maintenance management systems.
  • Collaborate with external software partners to ensure new features, modules, and interfaces meet business needs and are fully tested.
  • Contribute to the rollout, testing, and training of business processes supported by internal applications.
  • Engage with depot, operations, and materials teams to capture system requirements from frontline users.
  • Gather detailed user requests, assess their priority, and make configuration changes where appropriate.
  • Test newly implemented changes to confirm they meet agreed requirements.

What They Look For

Candidates should bring curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn. The ideal applicant will have:

  • A predicted or achieved 2:2 or higher in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a similar subject.
  • Strong logical thinking and a habit of researching and exploring solutions independently.
  • A responsible, self-driven approach to tasks, with the confidence to take ownership of challenges.
  • An interest in collaboration and a desire to contribute to creative, practical solutions.

How the Programme Works

Interns follow a structured development path that blends technical learning with broader skills training, such as teamwork, communication, commercial awareness, digital innovation, and problem solving. A personalised development plan supports each intern throughout the placement, offering clear guidance and exposure to projects that build both capability and confidence.

Benefits

The organisation offers a flexible benefits package that can be adapted to suit individual lifestyles. Roles based in London may include an additional allowance.

Commitment to Inclusion

The company values individuality and encourages applicants to bring their full selves to work. It is committed to fairness, equal opportunity, and building a workplace that reflects a wide range of perspectives and backgrounds.
