Graduate programme – Data & Performance - Wales
Launch your career at the intersection of data, engineering and energy. This opportunity sits within a major UK energy business operating critical energy storage assets. You’ll play a hands-on role in improving how data is captured, analysed and used to drive performance across industrial sites.
This is a structured 24-month graduate programme designed to build strong analytical capability across the full asset lifecycle. You’ll work with large, real-world datasets to support operational decision-making, improve efficiency and help optimise plant performance over the long term.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the development and maintenance of a high-quality data ecosystem across energy assets
- Collecting, cleansing and validating large datasets to ensure accuracy and usability
- Building dashboards, analytical models and reports to monitor performance
- Conducting trend analysis and generating early insights to support operational decisions
- Assisting with performance investigations and identifying root causes of issues
- Collaborating across engineering, operations and commercial teams to deliver data-driven insights
- Supporting the automation of reporting and contributing to data pipelines and scripting
- Communicating insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key criteria
- Degree (Bachelor’s 2:2 or Master’s) in a numerical or data-focused discipline such as Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or similar
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work with complex datasets
- Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, tools such as Python, SQL and Power BI
- Clear interest in using data to solve real-world engineering or operational problems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate data insights clearly to different audiences
- Proactive, curious and adaptable approach to learning
- Comfortable taking ownership of tasks while collaborating within a team
Desirable experience
- Exposure to data modelling or statistical analysis
- Experience working with data pipelines or dashboard development
- Ability to simplify complex data into clear, actionable insights
Location
Wales-based (site-specific role within an energy storage/hydro environment), with a hybrid working model where applicable
