Head of Procurement for Digital and Technology

Job summary

The Head of Procurement for Digital and Technology will act as the main point of contact for procurement for both the ICT department and all clinical and non-clinical ICT requirements of the Trust. They will be responsible for delivering an excellent procurement service, working collaboratively with colleagues and acting as senior advisers to the leadership team gaining their trust. The job holder will be directly responsible for managing the portfolio of contracts, maintaining the procurement pipeline and developing category strategies for ICT, contributing to the centralization of ICT spend in the Trust to avoid duplication. They will also provide procurement advice to Data Research, Innovation and Virtual Environments (DRIVE), the Trust's innovation unit through data and digital technologies, with partnerships across the NHS, industry and academia; and work closely with the Programme Director of the Electronic Patient Record programme. Delivery of savings will be a key responsibility.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the development and execution of sourcing activities and category strategy for digital, data and ICT in GOSH, acting as the senior business partner for CIO Directorate, for DRIVE, as well as working collaboratively with other Procurement Senior Business Partners to support the sourcing and procurement of all clinical and non clinical digital requirements for the Trust.
  • Take a leading role to champion and implement GOSH Procurement Vision to be a strategic enabler of the Trust strategic priorities, repositions procurement from a transactional function to a driver of organisational value and improved patient experience.
  • Develop the procurement category plan for Digital and Technology across clinical and non-clinical, taking into account internal needs, ever changing market conditions, multiple routes to market and resource availability to deliver the best value for GOSH.
  • Deliver the full end-to-end sourcing lifecycle including procurement strategy, tendering, award, and when required contract management.
  • Proactively manage the entire contract portfolio and develop and maintain the procurement pipeline using Atamis.
  • Challenge sourcing strategies to improve value for money for GOSH, championing competitive tender and further competition Contribute to and review business cases to demonstrate value, benefits, and risks of sourcing activities

Person Specification

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

Essential
  • University degree, MBA or CIPS qualification at Level 6 (Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply equivalent to 3-years university degree) or relevant experience
Desirable
  • Government Commercial Organisation (GCO), Assessment and Development Centre (ADC) accreditation at level Associate Commercial Specialist and above, with grade A
