National Paediatric SDE Programme Manager

Job summary

Advert for Children's Hospital Alliance Programme Manager (National Paediatric SDE)

Over the last 8 years, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) via its Data Research, Innovation and Virtual Environments (DRIVE) Unit, working in partnership with Aridhia (a UK small/medium enterprise), has built one of the UK's leading paediatric secure data environments (SDEs).

This SDE has enabled GOSH to use anonymised data not only for research, but to share data externally with other organisations (including other academic institutions and industry partners), use operational data to drive clinical decisions and efficiencies, and build new AI solutions. Throughout, we have adhered to the highest standards of information governance and data security. This has led to benefits for patients and staff (clinical, corporate and research), whilst also creating commercial opportunities.

This platform is being expanded to host the Children's Hospital Alliance (CHA) network of paediatric Hospitals to create a single National Paediatric SDE to support and accelerate research, operational efficiencies & treatment discovery. This would create a unique asset for all children in the UK that would be managed and led by the CHA.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a Programme Manager in an 18-month fixed term role to lead this exciting and complex change programme across 14 children's hospitals to develop a business case and funding application for the development of a CHA National Paediatric SDE, developing associated approaches to sharing information and future intellectual property rights. The role offers an opportunity to work with and gain support from the information, innovation and research teams across the CHA and other related programme areas of the CHA.

The successful candidate will be a champion of programme management, with high levels of self motivation, tenacity and resilience who can establish and develop strong and effective working relationships at all levels across multiple organisations, with the ability to challenge and effectively support the delivery of a complex, multifaceted programme, through the application of structured project management processes and interventions.

As this is a national role, it is a hybrid role that offers home-based working but with an expectation to travel to multiple bases as required by the programme.

If you wish to discuss the role please email Stephen Mathew, Head of Innovation at Stephen.Mathew@gosh.nhs.uk.
