Director of Technology Services - Band 9

The BSW Hospitals Group (GWH,RUH & SFT) is seeking an exceptional digital leader to shape, deliver and continually evolve a modern, resilient and forward-thinking Technology Services function. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our Group Digital Services team, responsible for ensuring our clinicians, operational teams and patients benefit from robust, safe, scalable and reliable IT services every day.

As Director of Technology Services, you will lead the design and delivery of integrated IT services across the BSW Hospitals Group. You will ensure the Group has a secure, high performing infrastructure; a full suite of dependable clinical and corporate systems; and a technology environment that enables the ambitions of our Group digital strategy.

Main duties of the job

You will be accountable for delivering high-quality services within the financial envelope, driving continuous improvement, cost efficiencies and service innovation. A key part of your role will be developing and supporting our digital workforce, fostering a culture of professionalism, collaboration and high performance.

As a senior leader within Digital Services, you will act a visible, customer focused partner to all parts of the Group. You will build strong collaborative relationships with clinical, operational and corporate teams ensuring our technology services meet the needs of a complex and evolving healthcare environment. You will act as the Digital Director at a designated care organisation, providing senior digital leadership, strategic engagement and expert guidance to executives, clinicians and operational teams through local digital oversight.

This is a senior leadership role with significant autonomy, influence and visibility across the Group, reporting to the Group Chief Digital and Information Officer, requiring presence and influence across all three Care Organisations.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Training and Experience

Essential
  • Education to a minimum of Masters degree level or equivalent post graduate qualification or equivalent senior level experience.
  • Degree level or equivalent qualification specifically in an IT discipline directly related to post
  • Professional qualifications relevant to post, IT and / or senior management specific, including ITIL.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • NHS or wider IT industry standards and systems.
Desirable
  • Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)
  • Prince 2 Practitioner
  • Management of Risk (MoR)
  • Management of Value (MoR)
  • The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
  • Commercial and / or Financial Management
  • Associate or Fellow membership of professional bodies pertinent to post e.g. BCS.
  • Regular participation and leadership in industry forums and events.
