Pharmacy Lead for Digital Medicines and Informatics
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pharmacy Digital Medicines and Informatics Lead to take ownership of all clinical and non-clinical digital systems used by the Pharmacy service and those supporting medicines use across the Trust.
This is a highly visible, operationally focused senior role, responsible for ensuring pharmacy and medicines-related digital systems are safe, effective, compliant and fully optimised to support high-quality patient care. You will lead a small specialist team and act as the Trust's pharmacy digital subject matter expert, working closely with IM&T, finance, clinical and operational teams, suppliers and senior leaders.
This exciting opportunity is ideal for an experienced digital pharmacy professional with strong leadership skills, a sound understanding of digital workflows, and experience in system governance, clinical safety, risk and change management, combined with excellent communication skills and a passion for digital healthcare, medicines safety and service transformation.

Main duties of the job
- Provide leadership and operational ownership of pharmacy and medicines-related digital systems across the Trust
- Lead the safe and effective delivery of systems including but not limited to:
- Pharmacy stock control and medicines procurement
- Robotics and automation
- Temperature monitoring
- Reporting and analytics
- EPMA
- Act as Pharmacy lead for digital governance of pharmacy systems, including clinical safety, risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity
- Manage supplier relationships and system performance, ensuring value, compliance and resilience
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure digital solutions are aligned with clinical, operational and organisational priorities.
- Lead and develop a specialist digital pharmacy team

Qualifications (essential)
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- NVQ / QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services plus accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent) OR Degree in Pharmacy
- Keeping professionally up to date including CPD
- Significant digital healthcare experience
- Significant hospital pharmacy experience
- Leadership experience or qualification
Desirable
- Project management qualification
- Evidence of training in change management.
- Experience of QI projects/ improvement work
Experience (essential)
- Significant broad post qualification experience in a hospital pharmacy as a qualified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist
- Experience leading or supporting pharmacy stock control systems, procurement systems, EPMA, BD automation, Power BI, Rx info and temperature control systems.
- Experience with governance, risk management, and change control
- Proven track record of delivering transformational change in pharmacy practices utilising quality improvement (QI) methodology
- Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated experience in staff development, leadership, and management, including recruitment, appraisal, performance oversight, absence and conduct management.
Desirable
Experience of writing and implementing business plans
Experience overseeing or supporting pharmacy workstreams during an eprescribing or EPR implementation.
Experience of managing system contracts
