The BSW Hospitals Group - Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GWH), Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust (RUH) and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust (SFT) - is delivering a shared Electronic Patient Record (EPR) across all three Trusts. This major digital transformation programme aims to improve quality and safety, enable more efficient working practices, and deliver a better experience for patients and staff.
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Programme Support Officer to play a central role in the delivery of the BSW EPR Programme for a fixed term / secondment of 18 months. Working across the organisations locations as required, the post holder will provide senior programme and project support across the partnership, coordinating activity, supporting governance and reporting, managing information, and acting as a key point of contact between organisations. This is a highly visible role requiring strong judgement, discretion and the ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders across multiple NHS organisations.
Main duties of the job
The Senior PSO role provides central support across the BSW EPR Programme, providing high-level project and programme coordination across the GWH, RUH and SFT.
Acting as the central team's point of coordination, the post holder will support consistent and effective programme delivery across the Group in accordance with agreed quality, time and financial parameters.
Supporting the development and maintenance of the programme work plan, risk and issues frameworks, and governance documentation, the post holder will exercise independent judgement, in the management and escalation of programme risks and issues. The post holder will be responsible for the receipt, handling, and appropriate routing of highly sensitive, privileged, and commercially confidential programme information across all three organisations.

Job responsibilities
1.Act as the central support function for the EPR Programme across all three local care organisations (GWH, SFT and RUH), ensuring alignment of activity, documentation and communications across the BSW Hospitals Group.2. Supports the development, maintenance and reporting of the programme work plan, taking autonomous decisions on prioritisation, resource allocation and scheduling in agreement with the Programme Manager and defined parameters.3. Take independent ownership for the maintenance of key governance products including the programme risk register, issues log, stakeholder mapping framework and benefits realisation plan, ensuring these are maintained to a high standard using recognised project management methodology (e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent).4. Apply senior project support judgement in assessing, escalating and where appropriate helping to resolving programme risks and issues that may affect delivery across the partnership, making recommendations to the Programme Manager and/or Programme Director.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through relevant experience
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Formal project management qualification
- Formal project qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, Managing Successful Programmes, APM PMQ or equivalent)
- Management training and or qualification
Experience
- Significant experience in a project or programme support role, including direct experience working across multiple organisations or complex stakeholder environments
- Demonstrable experience of independently managing programme governance documentation including risk registers, issues logs, stakeholder maps and work plans within policy
- Experience of handling highly sensitive, commercially confidential or privileged information, and applying appropriate information governance frameworks
- Experience of working simultaneously across several acute NHS trusts in a central coordination role
- Experience of working on EPR or major digital transformation programmes
- Experience of working with clinicians and engaging clinical stakeholders
