IT Support Engineer

Description

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, an innovative and education-focused IT Managed Service Provider, for a passionate and proactive IT Support Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis. This role is based at a leading independent college in Farnborough and offers an exciting opportunity to be a key part of the onsite IT team, supporting both users and infrastructure in a dynamic educational setting.

Location: Farnborough, Hampshire Salary: Up to £27,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities

IT Support & Service Delivery:

  • Provide high-quality first- and second-line support to staff and students.
  • Manage and resolve helpdesk tickets, prioritising face-to-face support where possible.
  • Assist with device deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance (PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, interactive screens).
  • Support student device issues during busy periods.

Infrastructure & Systems Administration:

  • Assist in maintaining and developing the college’s IT network and infrastructure.
  • Administer Microsoft services including Azure AD, Office 365, and Exchange Online.
  • Monitor systems for errors, viruses, and potential safeguarding concerns.
  • Work with third-party vendors for support and supply orders.

Project Work & Compliance:

  • Contribute to IT projects in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ensure equipment and systems meet safeguarding standards for pupil use.
  • Keep IT asset documentation up to date and accurate.
  • Perform regular classroom IT maintenance and equipment checks.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in IT support, particularly in networks and systems maintenance.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft environments (Windows Server, 365, Azure).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills & Knowledge:

  • Experience with Mobile Device Management (Intune, JAMF).
  • Familiarity with Apple devices and OS (macOS, iOS).
  • Exposure to VMWare technologies.
  • IT certifications and/or experience within an education environment.
  • Understanding of safeguarding within IT environments.
