Senior IT Engineer
As the Senior IT Engineer, you will act as the main escalation point for technical issues and support the ongoing improvement of the organisation’s IT systems. You will work across server support, cloud technologies, networking, security and device management, ensuring a high quality service for staff and students.
Key responsibilities
• Provide senior technical support and act as the primary escalation point for complex issues
• Troubleshoot and resolve advanced problems across servers, storage, user devices and applications
• Support administration of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange and virtual environments
• Work with system and network specialists to support firewalls, wireless networks and VPN services
• Carry out regular system maintenance including updates, patching and security improvements
• Contribute to IT projects across upgrades, migrations and new technology deployments
• Produce clear documentation and support guides to improve team knowledge
• Mentor junior IT technicians and help develop their skills
• Deliver a professional, customer focused IT service across the organisation
Skills and experience
• Strong background in 2nd and 3rd line IT support
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Windows OS, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and Azure AD
• Experience with device management platforms such as Intune or JAMF
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
• Strong communication skills and confidence in supporting users at all levels
• Experience in an education setting is desirable but not essential
• Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check
