About the Role

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional digital leader to join our unitary Board (non-voting) and Executive Leadership Team as Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) . Reporting to the CEO, Karen Howell OBE, this pivotal role is at the heart of our digital transformation journey. The CDIO will lead innovation, data strategy, and IT operations to enhance mental health care and patient outcomes.

As CDIO, you will drive the Trust’s digital vision and strategy, advancing our digital capabilities to become a data-driven, digitally mature organization aligned with national priorities and local community needs. Responsibilities include overseeing digital technologies, cybersecurity, optimizing Electronic Patient Records, and enabling inclusive digital access and smarter working practices across services.

Essential Criteria
  1. Proven experience as a senior digital leader within a complex organization, preferably in healthcare, public services, or a regulated environment.
  2. Experience in setting, communicating, and translating strategic visions into operational plans, delivering large-scale digital transformations and managing significant capital programs.
  3. Success in leading, inspiring, and developing high-performing, cross-functional technical teams, establishing KPIs, and enhancing performance and capabilities.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders (ideally at Board level) with excellent communication and influencing skills.
  5. Knowledge of emerging digital trends and technologies such as AI, data analytics, and digital health innovations, including regulatory and ethical considerations.
  6. Understanding of industry-standard security issues and processes.
  7. Experience in supplier management, establishing performance standards, and delivering value for money.
