ICT Network & Systems Technician
Job summary
To work within the ICT network team, responsible operationally for day to day support of the network across the GMMH footprint. This involves supporting around 370 switches and 720 access points across 100~ locations, although these numbers are subject to change.
Main duties of the job
Support GMMH staff with all network related ICT faults, including network hardware and software and providing help and advice.
This will require a good technical knowledge, good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to manage your own workload, escalating issues to managers so that they can be handled before becoming a major problem.
Must be adaptable, eager to learn, and willing to occasionally take on tasks beyond typical role responsibilities
Candidates should be aware that this role primarily involves working onsite in various locations around the Northwest.

Education / Qualifications
- Evidence of knowledge development acquired through relevant specialist training courses, for example Microsoft, Cisco Meraki, CompTIA, Juniper.
- Microsoft Certification/Training
- Juniper Certification/Training
- Network related training
Experience
- Evidence of experience of working in an IT technical environment including a range of knowledge of network & server hardware and software installation, configuration, and support; and networking technologies.
- Hands-on experience with switch and wireless configuration and troubleshooting
- Previous experience in NHS IT
- Previous experience working in a network role
- Experience using network monitoring and diagnostic tools
Knowledge
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnetting
- Understanding of basic network security principles
- Knowledge of virtualization infrastructure.
- Knowledge and experience of network technologies.
Skills and Abilities
- Be able to establish effective relationships with a wide variety of staff.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload, working to key objectives.
- Self-motivated, adaptable and flexible with genuine interest and enthusiasm for solving IT problems
