Senior Systems Officer

Job summary

We are looking to recruit to a vacancy within the team for a Senior Systems Officer.

This position is a specialist role within the IM&T Directorate, responsible for leading the operational management, development, and support of key clinical and business information systems across the Trust. The postholder acts as a systems expert on projects, oversees day-to-day system administration, and provides guidance, training, and support to system users

Main duties of the job

Core elements of the role include:

  • Project leadership on system-related initiatives, including planning, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and risk management.
  • System administration, ensuring configuration, data structures, templates, reports, and documentation are accurate, maintained, and continually improved.
  • User support and training, providing frontline assistance, producing guidance, reviewing e-learning, and maintaining strong relationships with directorates.
  • System development, including testing new releases, gathering user feedback, and supporting enhancements and benefits realisation.
  • Operational governance, contributing to policies, quality standards, data accuracy, and compliance with Trust procedures.
  • Communication and collaboration, representing the Systems Team in meetings, presenting complex information, and supporting organisational change.

Overall, the role blends technical expertise, project coordination, user engagement, and continuous improvement to ensure Trust systems are reliable, effective, and aligned with service needs.

Education / Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to degree level or possess equivalent level of experience
Desirable
  • Recognised qualification in computer software use (eg ECDL) or equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Prince 2 Practitioner

  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Extensive experience of maintenance and administration of a electronic information systems
