Job Type: Full-time, Mon-Fri working hours 37.5 hour a week contract. Permanent salary.
As an IT recycler and supplier of IT Services we have overseen more than 3 million devices through the IT lifecycle and, as a result, are perfectly placed to provide our customers with guidance and advice through this complex market. We offer a huge range of additional services, such as IT spares and logistics throughout the UK, as well as datacentre and office relocations, configuration and build, bonded stock, engineers and project managers along with Greensafe Global, our hardware specialist IT brokerage service.
We are looking for a practical, hands-on Server & Network Infrastructure Technician to support and manage GreensafeIT’s internal IT infrastructure. This role is focused on the day-to-day maintenance of in-house servers, core network equipment, and connected systems that keep the business running smoothly.
The successful candidate will be responsible for basic server administration, monitoring system health, supporting backups, maintaining network switches, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring our internal infrastructure remains secure, stable, and well organised.
This is an ideal role for someone with a strong foundation in IT infrastructure who is comfortable working across both server and network environments in a growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
Server Management
- Carry out day-to-day administration of in-house servers
- Monitor server performance, uptime, storage, and system health
- Perform routine checks, updates, patching, and basic maintenance
- Support user account administration, permissions, and access control
- Assist with backup monitoring, restore checks, and disaster recovery readiness
- Troubleshoot server-related issues and escalate where required
- Maintain server documentation, asset records, and configuration details
- Support virtualised or physical server environments as required
Network & Switch Management
- Manage and maintain internal network switches and related infrastructure
- Configure basic switch settings, VLANs, ports, and connectivity rules where required
- Monitor network performance and identify faults or bottlenecks
- Troubleshoot LAN, patching, switch, and cabling issues across the business
- Support office, warehouse, and operational connectivity requirements
- Assist with firewall, router, and internet connectivity checks where needed
- Ensure network hardware is labelled, documented, and well maintained
- Ensure Switch configuration is backed up and document restore process.
General Infrastructure Support
- Provide hands-on support for infrastructure changes, upgrades, and installations
- Assist with hardware replacements, rack organisation, and patching standards
- Help maintain IT security standards across internal systems and devices
- Support internal teams with infrastructure-related incidents and requests
- Work with third-party providers where specialist support is required
- Contribute to infrastructure improvement projects and business continuity planning
Competencies & Behaviours:
- Good understanding of Windows Server administration
- Basic experience managing on-premises server infrastructure
- Experience with network switches, patching, and general LAN environments
- Understanding of IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and basic routing
- Familiarity with backups, storage management, and system monitoring
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, server, and network issues
- Good documentation and organisational skills
- Comfortable working independently on day-to-day infrastructure tasks
- Hands-on and practical approach

- Able to prioritise and manage routine infrastructure tasks
- Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical teams
- Proactive in spotting risks and areas for improvement
- Experience with virtualisation platforms such as Hyper-V
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Entra / Active Directory environments
- Experience supporting warehouse, operational, or multi-site infrastructure
- Awareness of cybersecurity best practices and patch management
