Administrative Apprentice
Opportunity to join a high quality GP practice providing assistance and direction to customers in a courteous, efficient and effective way, facilitating effective communication between patients, the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies, while projecting a positive and friendly image.
Role
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Complete triage requests for patients unable to do them themselves
- Navigating triage requests and liaising with the triage GP
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
- Provide patient test results on advice from General Practitioner
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed
- Enter requests for home visits onto the computer system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to GP
- Arranging ambulance bookings when appropriate
- Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours, at the place requested by the patient
- Accept payment and issue receipts in respect of private (non General Medical Services) services
- Enter patient information/data on to the computer as required ensuring accuracy at all times
Training
- Full in-house training within the office
- Blue stream mandatory training
- Will be monitored then signed off once fully competent
- Completion of coursework within apprenticeship

We are a GP surgery located in Morpeth. We have 4 GP Partners, 6 salaried GPs and 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

In addition, our nurses are actively involved in chronic disease management, including Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, Kidney Disease, Ischaemic Heart Disease, Thyroid Monitoring, Medication Reviews and also Well Person Checks.
