Infrastructure Software Engineer (AWS, Typescript, Linux)
GridDuck is an energy management software company based in London that provides an intelligent energy-saving system for commercial buildings. Our solution uses a low-cost, cloud-based platform with wireless IoT sensors, clamps, and switches to monitor and control the consumption of electricity, gas, and water.
Our mission is to help businesses reduce their utility bills and carbon emissions by providing visibility into their energy usage and allowing for the automation of appliances. The system is designed to be easy to install and use, offering a more affordable alternative to traditional building management systems.
We are partnering closely with a larger group, which gives us access to an enviable pool of potential clients and a strong, joint product vision while maintaining a degree of independence.
We are looking for an experienced infrastructure software engineer to help take us to the next level. You will be involved in all aspects of software development, including optimising and further developing our API and data pipeline and adding more energy and sensor data integrations. However the focus will be on managing and evolving our cloud infrastructure, as well as on managing our Linux firmware on IoT devices. .
Our current stack includes:
- Backend: TypeScript, SQL, PostGres, Redis, InfluxDB, NodeJS
- Architecture: Terraform, ECS, RDS, EC2, Lambda
- Front end: JavaScript, ReactJS, React Native, Sass. Data visualisation, (metering data, energy, IoT sensor data) in D3.js.
- Gateway firmware in Linux, using Yocto + Buildroot, Typescript.
- IoT and building management communication protocols such as ZigBee, BLE, NB-IoT, ModBus and BacNet
- Further develop our energy management solution in line with our strategy and vision, mainly driven by the current and future requirements of our clients
- Evolve the cloud infrastructure and gateway firmware, and open up new data connections and systems integrations
- Maintaining system integrity, performance and uptime
- Collaborate with our operations team to diagnose and resolve technical issues to ensure a seamless experience for our clients.
- Track record in creating and/or maintaining large scale cloud infrastructure
- Experience in Typescript, SQL and Node JS as well as Linux
- Familiar with maintaining and writing unit tests
- Strong team player with the ability to be self-reliant and dependable
- Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline
- Strong Linux software development skills
- Experience with time series data and real-time data visualization
- Experience with energy, utilities and metering
- Experience with IoT or embedded systems
