Senior Technical Solutions Manager (IoT & Energy Metering)

GridDuck is an energy management company based in London that provides an intelligent energy-saving system for commercial buildings. The solution uses a low-cost, cloud-based platform with wireless IoT (Internet of Things) sensors, clamps, and switches to monitor and control the consumption of electricity, gas, and water. The company has also integrated with standard building protocols. 

The company's mission is to help businesses reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions by providing visibility into their energy usage and allowing for the automation of appliances. The system is designed to be easy to install and use, offering a more affordable alternative to traditional building management systems.

The role has been created by a colleague going on sabbatical, and by continued strong growth. We are partnering with a larger, financially stable group, which gives us access to an enviable pool of potential clients and a strong, joint product vision while maintaining a degree of independence. 

Role Overview

You will oversee technical projects ensuring successful design and implementation of our technology, helping our clients to achieve measurable energy savings. You will be managing tasks such as project planning, technical design, installer support and technical client support. These tasks will involve communication with various stakeholders at all levels of seniority, including the GridDuck team, installers and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specify our energy management solution for our clients’ specific requirements and buildings
  • Support our sales and customer success teams by providing technical solutions to help businesses reduce energy consumption.
  • Provide training and support for installers and clients 
  • Work with our software engineers to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues to provide a seamless experience for our clients.
  • Travel around the country visiting client sites to perform surveys and support installations.
  • Report to CEO about project progress and technical challenges.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 2 years experience with utilities and metering.
  • Strong leadership and client interaction skills 
  • Familiarity with low voltage electrical infrastructure and installations.
  • Knowledge of IoT systems and sub-metering (e.g. Modbus, BACnet, Zigbee etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills with clients and stakeholders. 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications (Optional)
  • Engineering or technical qualification (e.g. Level 3 Electrical Qualification, HND or BEng)
  • Experience in project planning tools (e.g. ClickUp, Asana, Jira, Notion etc)
  • Knowledge of low carbon technologies (e.g. EVs, Solar etc.)
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency standards, ESOS etc.
