Electromechanical Engineer

Senior Electromechanical Engineer, Medical Devices

Permanent | UK | Medical Device / Diagnostics

Our client is a healthcare technology and diagnostics company developing FDA-regulated, point-of-care molecular diagnostic platforms that bring rapid, accurate infectious disease testing directly into clinical settings used across hospitals, clinics, universities, and public health organisations.

They're now hiring a Senior Electromechanical Engineer to join their Systems Engineering team and help develop a next-generation diagnostic device that is intuitive, reliable, and secure by design.

The Role

You'll work within a cross-functional Systems Engineering team on the conceptualisation, design, and testing of electromechanical equipment and systems for an FDA-regulated diagnostic instrument from sensors and actuators through to full system integration.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing and testing electromechanical components- sensors, actuators, and related sub-systems
  • Producing technical documentation: schematics, technical reports, and operational manuals
  • Improving existing test equipment, processes, and data workflows
  • Collaborating closely with software engineers to integrate electronic control systems into mechanical frameworks
  • Investigating and evaluating new technologies to improve system performance
  • Running detailed analysis on the viability and integration of new technology into existing systems
  • Working with internal and external teams to implement engineering changes and refine manufacturing processes

About You

  • MSc in Mechanical, Biomedical, Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience, ideally within a regulated industry (e.g. ISO 13485)
  • Proficient with CAD software for electromechanical design toward manufacture (e.g. Altium, SolidWorks)
  • Strong, hands-on troubleshooting and repair skills with lab instrumentation
  • Strong data analysis and presentation skills; Python experience advantageous
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable managing multiple projects with minimal supervision

Why Apply

Join a team building genuinely impactful diagnostic technology a platform already FDA-cleared and in clinical use, expanding access to fast, accurate infectious disease testing worldwide. This is a chance to own meaningful engineering scope on a product with real-world patient impact, in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.
