You will play a key role in leading the technical delivery and maintenance of IT systems across the organisation, working closely with the Head of IT to ensure the security, reliability, and continuous improvement of the IT environment.

This role will take ownership of technical operations and project delivery, with a strong focus on completing and maintaining compliance against security frameworks including ISO27001 and internal security standards. You will be responsible for driving the completion of the Security Basics programme, maintaining annual certifications, and ensuring all technical controls are implemented and sustained.

Working within the IT team, you will manage technical resources and collaborate with governance and support functions to ensure systems are secure, compliant, and aligned with business needs. You will also support the delivery of new systems, infrastructure improvements, and ongoing technical projects.

The role requires a proactive and structured approach, with strong technical knowledge across Microsoft technologies, cloud infrastructure, and cyber security best practices. You will play a key role in ensuring the organisation remains secure, compliant, and technically robust.

You will be reporting to the Head of IT.

Essential Criteria;

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

• Relevant qualification in IT or equivalent practical experience

EXPERIENCE

• Proven experience in a technical IT role (e.g. Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, Technical Lead)
• Experience working with Microsoft cloud technologies (Azure, Entra, Intune, Defender)
• Experience implementing and maintaining security controls within an IT environment
• Experience delivering technical projects and system implementations

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft cloud ecosystem (Azure, Entra ID, Defender)
• Good understanding of cyber security principles and best practices
• Ability to design and implement secure infrastructure solutions
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to manage and prioritise multiple technical workstreams
• Knowledge of vulnerability management tools and patching processes

OTHER JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to take ownership of technical compliance and security outcomes
• Strong attention to detail, particularly in relation to security and risk
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Interest in continuous improvement and evolving security practices
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Desirable;

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

• Microsoft certifications (Azure, Security, or Endpoint Management)
• ISO27001 or information security-related certifications
• Cyber security certifications (e.g. Security+, CISSP)

EXPERIENCE

• Experience working within ISO27001 or similar compliance frameworks
• Experience supporting audits, certifications, or regulatory requirements
• Experience managing or mentoring technical staff

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Understanding of compliance frameworks (ISO27001, CE/CE+)
• Awareness of infrastructure automation or modern deployment approaches

Within this position, you will mainly be;

• Line managing technical staff, including IT Technician
• Taking ownership of technical delivery across IT projects and maintenance activities.
• Driving the completion of the Security Basics programme to 100%.
• Ensuring ongoing compliance with ISO27001 technical controls and supporting annual recertification.
• Maintaining CE and CE+ certifications through ongoing technical compliance activities.
• Implementing and maintaining security controls across Azure, Entra, and Microsoft Defender environments.
• Supporting vulnerability management and patching activities across systems.
• Leading technical aspects of new system implementations and software rollouts.
• Designing, deploying, and managing Azure infrastructure aligned with best practices and security standards.
• Building and maintaining core Azure services, including storage accounts, blob storage, virtual machines, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), containers, and networking components.
• Ensuring all Azure resources are configured securely, including identity and access management (RBAC, Conditional Access), network security (NSGs, private endpoints, segmentation), and data protection controls.
• Implementing and maintaining governance controls across Azure environments, including policies, naming conventions, resource organisation, and cost management.
• Monitoring and optimising Azure environments for performance, cost, and reliability.
• Supporting the integration and deployment of new applications and services within the Azure environment.
• Ensuring all cloud environments meet compliance requirements for ISO27001 and internal standards.
• Collaborating with governance functions to ensure alignment with policies and standards.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across IT systems and infrastructure.
• Acting as a technical escalation point for complex issues.
• Ensuring documentation is maintained for systems, configurations, and processes.
